Hope all of you are having a great summer. It certainly has been a busy summer for L.A.! In fact, for the first week of August, our hotel occupancy hit a staggering 93.6%. Even better, every sub-market of Los Angeles achieved at least 90% occupancy – the first time this has ever been done in our destination’s history. In addition to the phenomenal leisure visitation we are currently enjoying, we also recently hosted nearly 7000 travel planners with the Global Business Travel Association conference - VVIPs who book individual travel and small meetings. This was an important opportunity to showcase Los Angeles and it was a wonderfully successful event. We’re now working on our next hosted industry event - the International Association of Exhibitors and Exhibitions (IAEE) in December. It will be our third large meeting planner convention of the year, designed to highlight the assets of our City and bring in more tourist, conventions and business meetings.

The good news continues as we have been benefitting from tremendous global destination media coverage. As a result, on at least two occasions this year we have been named both the #1 Brand in the World and the #1 destination in the United States based on new developments news, and traditional and social media buzz about the City of Angels. So many parts of our great City are humming in unison that the world is taking notice. Here at LATCB we have hosted over 500 press tours in the last 18 months, and, this year alone, have benefited from more than $50M of global earned media. Getting the word out is part of the story; but the real story is the good work all of you are doing to welcome our visitors from around the world in terms of safety, transportation, service and friendliness.

To keep the momentum going into 2015 and beyond, we’ve been working on our 3-year strategic plan and our specific sales and marketing plans for the year ahead.  We’ll roll all of this out, along with visitor insights and forecasts at our 2nd Annual Market Outlook Forum on Wednesday, August 20. Attendees will receive our Market Planner and Resource Guide filled with statistics and insights on where our visitors are coming from and what they are doing in-market and will hear from expert speakers on a variety of topics from marketing to millennials to understanding today’s digital tourist to getting the latest on the city’s tourism infrastructure development.

Your participation at the Market Outlook Forum is critical on our Road to 50 million visitors by 2020.
